So I haven't been on here in a while... just thought I'd check back in the ol' diggs and see what's new. Seems like some good changes/updates.
Christmas is just about two weeks away, and I haven't been able to get into the holiday spirit yet. :(
That is highly unusual for me since Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. No, not because of anything having to do with gifts, but rather because:
- The weather is usually a lot cooler and less humid around this time of year so it's nice and pleasant to be outside.
- Despite all the blatant commercialism and other materialism that looms rampant at this time of year, people tend to be a little kinder/nicer to each other and more giving to those in need.
- Towns decorate their main streets and people decorate their houses with colourful lights and other shiny decorations, and when they're all lit up at night it's quite pretty to look at.
Somehow, it just seems more peaceful and tranquil at this time of year. Maybe it's just a vibe that people collectively and subconsciously give out. Or maybe I'm just imagining it, I don't know. What do you think?
Well, whatever it is, but hopefully I will start to feel it (that Christmas holiday spirit) soon...
I'd like to share with you a little haiku that I wrote...

rush hour
Living in South Florida, my daily commute to and from work is reminiscent of this most days, though some days can be worse than others. I really dislike sitting in traffic jams, and have found that I would much rather take a longer route that is out of the way if it means that I can keep moving (at a decent speed no less) and not be caught up in the life-draining stop-and-go crawl of a traffic snarl filled with apparently-clueless drivers, accident-onlookers (rubber-neckers) and those drivers that seemingly do not know how to merge onto a highway properly. They may all know how to operate a motor vehicle, but believe me, they do not all know how to drive. There is a difference.
To that end, I have been exploring some alternate, if less convenient distance-wise, driving routes lately, with some limited success. Yes, doing so adds more miles to my car and consequently uses more fuel, but on the upside, it results in my arriving at my destination less stressed-out, which to me is worth it.
I guess you could look at it as some sort of an attempt to beat the "System", if that's the right metaphor, but I really don't think so. All I want to do is to get where I'm going as quickly and painlessly as possible.
And so it is, that I choose to take the road less traveled. Literally. :)
Show us why you love the city you live in.
Submitted by meg.Well, I'd say one of the reasons would be large blue skies and blue water. It's always nice to have the beach nearby, although I have to admit that I tend to take it for granted at times.
What's your favorite music for a Sunday morning?

It generally depends what I'm doing that morning, but if I'm just going to relax and do some reading while having a cup of coffee or something, then I like Michael Hedges' last album Oracle, for his great, upbeat, acoustic guitar instrumental music.
So this is my first Vox post. After taking a brief look around and determining that it looked like it had alot of potential in terms of features and growth, I thought that I would give Vox a try. Don't have a whole lot of time at the moment, so I'll keep my first post brief. However, I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like around here.
